Tennis Elbow TOPAZ

Aim:                     

To reduce lateral elbow pain due to extensor tendon degeneration

 

Dressing:             

Reduce bandage and wound check at 10 days. Dry dressing as required

 

Restrictions:         

NO NON STEROIDAL ANTI INFLAMATORIES FOR 8 WEEKS

 

0-3 days:               

Ice and rest

Gentle range of motion within dressing

1-2 weeks:             

Active range of motion as pain allows

Elbow extension against gravity- above head

Gentle passive stretches

Avoid strenuous activity

Educate to lift with palm up utilising flexors

Light grip strength exercises

 

2 weeks +:             

NO NSAIDs

Normal activity as tolerated

Avoid heavy lifting

 

6 weeks:               

Return to sports if asymptomatic

 

Sports:                   

6 weeks- swimming

3 months- racquet sports, weights at gym

 

Work:                     

Sedentary jobs- 1- 2 weeks

Manual jobs- 4-6 weeks as pain allows

 

Driving:                 

7-10 days as able with dressing/bandage
